Parenting Classes
Welcome to Welcome Baby! We offer a range of evidence-based curricula to help parents, guardians, and grandparents strengthen their parenting skills and build a relationship with their child(ren). Our classes are free and available to Durham County residents who care for children from birth to age 8. Please note that the schedule of courses varies with availability.
Cribs for Kids®
The goal of Cribs for Kids of Durham is to ensure a safe sleep environment for all newborns and to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
In April of 2011, Welcome Baby became a national Cribs for Kids chapter.
Welcome Baby purchases and distributes new Pack 'n Play porta-cribs to parents who need them in the Durham community. Each family receives Cribs for Kids safe sleep training before obtaining a crib.
I just left the Welcome Baby Gifting Closet Event and it was an amazing experience! I am a new mom & resources like Welcome Baby are a HUGE help! Not only did they provide me with diapers, clothes, formula, & a stroller; they helped me to use the car seat properly & gave me a tutorial on wearing carriers. The entire team is so friendly & extremely informative. If they don’t have the answer they will direct you to who does. I feel so much more confident as a new mom after leaving there. I look forward to attending more of their events and classes. Carmen, Alfonso, & Cindy along with the other members of the team are so amazing & patient! Thank you for the hard work you put into your programs. I’m so grateful that these programs are available! If you haven’t been to Welcome Baby I highly recommend that you do!— Alexis Williams
I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we enjoyed the car seat training last week. It was exceptionally informative, and it was clear that Alfonso was very knowledgeable and very passionate about the subject. After the training, we made adjustments to both of our car seats that will make transportation safer. This was a good use of time so thanks for putting it out there. I hope more parents take the time to do it.
